Detail painting has begun!!!!!

I drew on some guidelines with a white color pencil for the ID IFF stripes... anything that I missed I figured would look like chalk marks that likely were used as guides

Then it was time for invasion stripes... commie style

This is the look that I am aiming for...

More in a couple days... no bench time ahead until Sunday now...

Beautifully painted Russian Green! Wow the way your paint pulls over the edges of the plastic is tack sharp, very clean, crisp and smooth. Stripes are a great contrast! Sunday is too long to wait, but you gotta make dem ends... very excited for you, Carlos. This is one hell of a project.

Blacksheep and Bruce, thanks!

The white stripes really bring the build to the next stage of work. I can see the finish line now! The overall green is SO monotone... typical Soviet... Da Tovarisch?

But yes, Sunday is my next chance for time at the bench. Why? Because with an overtime shift tonite, I will not be home again before then... :clockwatch:

Well Sunday was a day of rest, relaxation, and indulgence... Monday was a day of recovery from such... and today was back to the workbench and my T-55.

First up I scratched up some ammo racks and installed them in the rear of the turret... I had also previously scratched up a seat for the loader as well

then I (finally) glued the main gun in place

I glued the last few items in place... unditching log, tow cables, spare track links, and main gun IR light linkage rods

Now everything is in place and painted with base colors

all ready for the gloss coat now and then decals...

Lookin' so good. The paint... the invasion stripes "Communist style" are just right, you create the right appearance of a hand painted edge, but it is inside the edge with the brush strokes coming through that this feels absolutely right. Well done, sir! And the loading seat with the racks inside -brilliant!!

Bruce and Mike, thank you. It's nice to be almost done with this one.

What is great about this project is how beautiful your work looks prior to weathering! Weathering will only enhance this!! Look forward to more.
