Hey, Carlos—those scratchbuilding touches to the gunsight make a huge difference to the cockpit. Great job! The gunsight and resin seat are perfect additions!

Thanks Bruce! Although I would call that more of part modification and enhancement, as opposed to scratch building. Very simple stuff. I would love to see if Yahu made IPs for P-40s. I have several more to do.

and for your P-40 viewing pleasure...

My birthday was great. A few hours in the midday at my workbench, and then food and drink with friends and family. I grill up some corn and ribeyes, along with some burgers and hot dogs. Good times. And no major hangover this morning... just a little dehydrated... all good now!

I’ll do another post to show my latest P-40 progress...

So when we left off, I still needed to complete the cockpit paint work, which I did yesterday...

Then I assembled the cockpit tub

and then installed the tub into the fuselage

and last thing I did yesterday was to get the wings glued in place...

Image

I first glued the lower wing in place, then once that had dried, I added the upper wing halves with all the rubber bands to minimize any gaps... the upper right wing had some mild warping at the trailing edge, so that’s why I used the clothes pin to clamp that issue... it worked perfectly...

Today before work I did the seam clean up at the wing root areas... all the rubber band work helped on that big time!

Starting to look like a P-40 now!

Good use of the the highly under rated Mk. V clothes peg and the type II elastic band. Old school still works a treat!

Thanks Kent! Old tricks are still some of the best. I tried my clamps for that wing root problem, and the did not work quite right. But a good old clothes pin with a rubber band for extra help was perfect.
