Suwheet! I LOVE getting aftermarket stuff in the mail!

That should add lots of detail to your Corsair build. The ignition wire harness is fiddly but in my experience, it should fit pretty well. Just have to be careful. I usually secure the ring to the engine first and then bend each wire individually to the appropriate cylinder head. Also, if you want to reduce the flatness of the wire, brush painting prior to installation helps give the wires some roundness.

I am not a happy guy right now. After waiting for several weeks for my PE stuff to arrive so that could resume this build, I’m having a problem with the IP.

I wanted to get started, and the instructions call for you to place a film between the PE face, and the kit part. Well, here’s the film:

Image

...it appears to just be a panel printed on a piece of paper. I thought perhaps it was a thin film on backing, but I was wrong there. It’s just sorta printed on there. And it looks terrible, too.

“No problem, I’ll just use the Tamiya IP decals and place the PE faces over them.” I thought.

No dice. They don’t match up.

I’m not foolin’ with this IP B.S. on this kit anymore. I’m hella disappointed after waiting so long for these parts to arrive. And in preparation, I’d already sanded the kit part down to accommodate the PE set...

So I ordered a Corsair IP from Yaho models vi eBay:

It is much nicer. But it won’t be here until the end of the month at best.

What a pain, not to mention a total enthusiasm drainer. Obviously I need to manage my expectations better. However, this aircraft in particular is once again giving me a headache (what am I, cursed when it comes to Corsairs?).... So I am going to leave it alone for now until my new IP from Yahu gets here. In the meantime I’m going to finish my tank, and maybe I’ll even start on my Mustang. I know I made a rule about that, but whatever.

That ain't right! That SHOULD be a piece of clear acetate with the IP dials printed on it. It looks like you got a paper copy of the acetate.

I would contact the retailer and/or Eduard for replacement. Depending on the quality of the copy, you could xerox it onto a piece of clear overhead projector film.

I HATE it when you wait for something and then it comes broken, incomplete, wrong or otherwise unusable. On my last D-9 build, Eduard sent me two left flaps instead of one left and one right but they sent me a replacement fairly quickly.

John,

The quality of it was very poor. No can do good copy :-( This is the first time Eduard dropped the ball on me, and I emailed them about it, yessir. Still, a replacement from them will take just as long, and I do like the looks of that Yahu IP.

I’m just pissed now because I’d mapped out a rough schedule for getting that cockpit done today-Friday and getting the fuselage joined and wings attached on Saturday.

ACK!

AH well, I can work on the engine and landing gear, at least. And I have that Emil that’s been waiting in the wings for a long time to keep my airplane building shakes at bay, too.

To change to Yahu was the right thing to do.

Eduards stuff is just light years behind Yahu..
Not even the new ”premium” Eduard Löök IP stuff beats Yahus...

Below Yahu versus Eduard ”Löök” I bought some time ago for Revells P-51D in 1/32.
I bought first the Eduard... got it and immediately ordered Yahus...

Which on is which one... :hmm:

You know, Kari, now that I’ve had some time to cool off, listen to Dean Martin, work on the cockpit of that Battle of France Emil, and look at some shots of these Yahu IP,s, I am 100% inclined to agree with you. They look amazing. And I want this build to be amazing. And I’m gonna buy me one of these Yahu IP’s for my forthcoming Mustang too.

I agree with Kari, and have already used a Yahu IP in Cripes A-Mighty. In 1/32, a superior IP is the one offered by Barracuda Resin:
