Mr. Surfacer works great but I agree with Bruce's assessment of it shrinking alot as it dries.

This is why I mound it on over larger openings. Once it has dried sufficiently, I can sand it as smooth as CA glue and as mentioned before, it feathers at least as well as CA of not better. For simple surface imperfections, brushing on a layer usually fills it enough and then sands to a smooth, even finish. I've sometimes had to add it to the edge of a CA filling to get it to feather smoothly.

Mileage definitely varies! The time frames that Carlos gives for CA glue are really long compared to my experience. Using an accelerator, I am sanding within seconds of application. If no accelerator, I am sanding within minutes.

Definitely. Although perhaps it has something to do with the brands used. I used to use the zap a gap CA and Accelrator stuff from a mostly RC shop and that stuff dried and cured more quickly. Nowadays I’m using the Bob Smith Industries products carried at some shops here. That stuff sets up more slowly.
