"Husker" - a dried up wrapper for tamales..... A few years ago I flew into Lincoln and we drove over to Grand Island...wow! over a hundred miles of arrow-straight highway, flat as a billiard table. I remember seeing the KC-135s, though.

hey now, tamales are delish!

Lincoln air guard has the KCs, but the army base out there flew their helos over campus all the time. Gotta love seeing blackhawks and chinooks while on your study break.

Yeah, i'm sure it was a treat. Anytime spent watching warbirds fly is a good time. We used to get a bunch of helos from Frankfort Army Guard come over the house - guess they were on their way to Fort Knox. Nothing much lately.

I know the feeling. I live in the flight path between Simmons Army Airfield and Ft. Bragg's northern training area. Plus the approach for Pope Air Force Base. On any given day, I have multiple fly-overs from Kiowas, Blackhawks, Apaches, Chinooks, C-130s, C-17s, C-5s, various civilian aircraft bringing troops to or from Afghanistan, F-15s and A-10s training with the 82nd, and the odd Life Flight on the way to Duke or UNC medical center.

Then there's the artillery.......

Yeah, I would try that too, but I have too many shelves in the way! My ceiling is already packed to the gills.

You can also hang them between the shelves...on the wall...or from the shelf, as if it's flying.
I've been hangin models by their tails on the wall for....hmmmm...almost 30 years now!

Therein lies the problem. My shelves in my Hobby Room are seven to eight inches apart. I barely have room to get my hands in there to pull out models at the back of the shelf. I may be able to hang some on some of the shelves that are sticking out further than the others, but then I run into the problem of hitting them when I go by.


Oh well, maybe when I get more models finished and get rid of the boxes I'll have some more room.


Yeah, tamales are good, especially out here in California. They are my wife's favorite food. She particularly likes the pork ones. As for warbirds flying over, every now and then I get treated to an airshow of sorts when Chino Planes of Fame has their annual air show in May. A few days ahead of it, I see a lot of P-51's, P-38's, Corsairs Hellcats, a Dauntless and several other WWII and Korean-era birds flying around practicing for the big show. They even have a Flying Pancake aircraft.... that flies.

After six years I finally got off my butt and put laminate floors in here as well as organizing it a lot more. I also ditched a lot of random crap that was in here:







I also finally have everything in drawers and even broke out the label maker:



You can't read it in the pic but one of drawers is labeled "Acme Sprue Stretcher". It's just a lighter and a candle...

Hadn't figured you for a Maiden fan (not for any particular reason!). That was the first Maiden poster I ever got. I believe I was 12-13...still got it, 25-26 years later!

I'm a huge Maiden fan and always have been. I had that poster when I was a teenager and lost it during various moves. It took forever but I finally tracked one down on Ebay. Don't ask what I paid for it...
