Re: AMT’s 1955 Chevy Bel Air
Keep in mind the tooling for that is quite old, and it is the sedan versus the hardtop of most other 55 kits. It's worth the hassle of making parts to fit. I badly want it.

Engine is finished!! I salvaged the intake manifold with distributor, carb and air filter, exhast manifolds, fan belt assembly from the Monte Carlo kit. I still have to glue the starter and oil filter later for they're painted and drying.

Re: AMT’s 1955 Chevy Bel Air
Looking at the chassis of the Bel Air kit, I’m not liking the molded in exhaust pipes and muffler system. So that being said, I want to add a separate set from a spares bin. But... I no longer have a spares bin.
If anyone has any spares like the the ones similar to the Starsky & Hutch Torino kit I’ve been working on, let me know.

Re: AMT’s 1955 Chevy Bel Air
Very nice!! Unfortunately I don't have any solder piping.
However.... I just test fit the engine to the chassis and it looks like I'm going to have to ditch the exhaust manifolds.
The one on the right is too big and doesn't fit in the opening. I'm gonna have to use the kit's exhaust manifolds. Oh well...

Ouch....I have no doubt you will get it sorted out!

Check Hobby Lobby, or your local RC shop for aluminum tubing. They sell it in various diameters and it works great for jobs like this.

using solder is a fine idea, but that kit has molded in exhaust, so it will require a lot of cutting and replacing with plastic sheet.
