Indeed they are Bruce, water and clay and very easy to work with. I'm still a novice at all this really but I like the product. I am still removing the excess yes, and then I'll matt coat it, and then use some dry pigments and some drybrushing. I might also try the sponge method of chipping.

Then I might mix some acrylic medium with some sand and build up some clag around the tracks.

I'm just taking this slowly - feeling my way and working on it when I get in the mood.

I use Phil Flory's clay-based washes on every build now and they are really easy to use. I find that I'll remove more and more of the wash as I go, often even slightly wetting an old brush to reactivate the dried wash to alter the effect and look. Often, there's not much of the wash left. One caveat, do not use a brush or stirrer with them that has done duty with any solvent-based products. It will ruin the wash and render it unusable. One of my very first bottles got damaged that way!

You're having some fun on this Tiger, Stuart! To me, one the joys of armour building is trying new stuff for weathering effects and considering just how much mud and slog one wants to add. Honestly, although I do love placing a finished plane in the display, I have more pure fun when I build a dang tank!
