using solder is a fine idea, but that kit has molded in exhaust, so it will require a lot of cutting and replacing with plastic sheet.

Yeah... I spent a good half hour - 45 minutes looking at it trying to figure the best way how to do it. I may just keep it as is since my salvaged exhaust manifolds isn't going to work out fit wise.

I'm starting to hate this build because it's an old mold filled with flash. I wasn't a huge fan of AMT kits for auto kits but I do love their MPC and Monogram kits instead. I may look around on eBay and see if I can find a decent one.

I would build it stock so it wouldn't bother me much. I prefer separate parts but it is what it is lol.

Here’s a challenging question. The interior part is one piece, basically a tub. I want to paint it a two tone color. What would be the best way to do it? I’m thinking paint it satin white first, then mask the white for the darker color.

The other thought is cut the sides, paint, glue it back. Thoughts or advice appreciated.

Yeah its usually better to do light colors first. Gonna be a pain masking. Maybe you can brush the secondary color.

Yup! Although depending upon the interior configuration and how much you plan to do the two tone will dictate how much of a pain the masking will be...

Definitely lighter color first. It's just way easier to go from light to dark than the other way around Tom. I hear what you're sayin' about the AMT kits but it all depends on the kit. In my experience the finger gets pointed at the time frame that the kit was first introduced. For instance, Revell's '56 Ford F-100 kit is TERRIBLE!!. Flash, poor fit, ejector pin marks everywhere and all in the wrong places and so on. Revell's newer Foose F-100 is a complete DREAM to build. Stark contrast in quality as well as ease of build. It may not be able to be built into a stock F-100 but it's by far a much better kit to build. Pretty much falls together. By large I find that AMT does quite a bit of research on any given automotive subject and will produce a really good end result in terms of details as well as overall look.

I planned on doing satin white first regardless. This is the two tone I wanted to achieve on the door panels and sides.





No doubt masking will be a biatch to do...

In case anyone is wondering what color combination I've decided on, it will be White and Desert Rose Metallic. Oh yeah, she's gonna have a bad ass, sweet look to her.
